MCW (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is the third-largest private medical school in the nation with $1.6 billion in research funding over the last 10 years. It is the original home of the International Bone Marrow Transplant Registry (IBMTR), now known as the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR), and has a proven history of clinical research and publication in both hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and statistical methodology. MCW faculty and staff provide scientific and statistical oversight for all BMT CTN protocols, assist in design and implementation of ancillary studies and secondary analyses, and have responsibility for overall administration of the Network.

Together, MCW and NMDP operate the CIBMTR, an international research program that has fostered effective collaborations with a large network of >330 transplant centers in >30 countries that submit HCT and cellular therapy outcomes data for patients. It maintains an extensive observational research database with information from >600,000 patients and >1,600 publications. The CIBMTR database is used extensively by the Network to design, monitor and interpret BMT CTN studies. CIBMTR data complement trial data collected through the Emmes eClinical system. All long-term follow-up of patients treated on Network trials is done through the CIBMTR. The CIBMTR also has a large Research Sample Repository maintained by the NMDP.
